My genealogy

My father for the past few years has actually been compiling a genealogy for the paternal side of my family. It has been interesting, especially considering my eclectic ethnic background.

To begin, my last name comes from my ancestor who was one of the original French soldier sent over to French Canada. His wife was in a group of women sent over by the French government (the exact term for which I cannot recall), and this eventually ended up with me.

I would say the keeping of a lineage is not a purely Southern thing however, as even though, like myself, my father spent much of his adolescence in the South, his formative years were in the North, and the majority of my family are "Northern" or something else. My grandparents are from most the Northeast or somewhere comparable like Wisconsin or Illinois.
